In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a procedure in which an egg is removed from a woman and fertilized by a sperm outside the body. The fertilized egg is transferred to the uterus to establish a pregnancy. Different sperm harvesting procedures can be used to obtain sperm and they include:

Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) – It is a procedure performed under local anesthesia where in a needle is inserted into the testicle and sperms are aspirated.

Percutaneous Sperm Aspiration (PESA)-This technique involves aspiration of sperm using a small needle and is coordinated with egg retrieval.

Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE) – In this method small sample of testicular tissue will be collected through a small incision in the testis.

Microdissection TESE- It is an advanced version of TESE that involves removal of minimal testicular tissue with maximum sperm yield.
